Beyond Architecture, conceived by Lukas Feireiss, is the first publication of its kind to document the creative exploration of architecture and urban propositions in the contemporary arts. The book examines the original responses of artists to the influential strength of architecture in visual culture and explores how built forms are being used and abused in their work, thereby distending and extending space, and perhaps offering alternatives to the autonomous presumptions of architecture.

The featured works range from performance, installation art and crafted sculptures to architectural models, alternative ideas for living spaces and furniture, as well as illustration, painting, collage and photography.
